Neighbourhood Watch Scotland has launched Neighbourhood Alert, a secure community messaging system.
Neighbourhood Alert allows key information providers to contact registered users with reliable, localised, targeted and timely messages on issues of crime, safety and resilience.
Current information providers include Neighbourhood Watch Scotland, Police Scotland, Scottish Fire and Rescue Service, Local Authorities and Get Safe Online.
Alerts provide the recipient with information on what course of action to take, as well as providing advice and a point of contact should there be any further issues.
Registered users can choose interest groups, what message types they wish to receive and from whom. Users also have the ability to rate, reply to and share messages, and contribute additional information.
Messages are generally issued by email, although if a matter of urgency the message can be sent by text or voicemail, and the system is completely free to all users.
You can register for the Neighbourhood Alert system via the Neighbourhood Watch Scotland website, where you can also find additional resources about home and community safety, as well as information on how to set up your own Neighbourhood Watch Scheme.
