The Green PB Action Group, part of the Scottish Community Development Centre’s PB Scotland Network, has launched a new scheme to recognise the impact that participatory budgeting (PB) is having on the Just Transition to Net Zero in Scotland.
Supported by the Scottish Government, COSLA as well as a number of youth, environmental and health organisations across Scotland, the Green PB Action Group has created a new Green PB Seal and Green PB Benefits Badge to recognise, identify and support green PB activity in Scotland.
Green participatory budgeting is a way for people to make direct decisions about how budgets are spent addressing climate change and reducing our carbon footprints.
The Green PB Seal recognises dedicated Green PB funding projects, where all resources are expended to further the climate change agenda and contribute to Scotland’s Just Transition to Net Zero, while the Green PB Benefits Badge recognises PB activity which has contributed positively to the climate change agenda, but which isn’t part of a themed Green PB process.
Projects can apply for the Green PB Seal and Badge themselves, if they feel that a PB project they are involved in meets the criteria. You can find out more on the PB Scotland website.
