Following the session on Community Councils at the Scottish Parliament in May, the Local Government Committee has now received a response from the Minister for Community Wealth and Public Finance.
The Committee convener, Ariane Burgess MSP, had written to Tom Arthur, Minister for Community Wealth and Public Finance, following the session which featured evidence from the Improvement Service, Scottish Community Development Centre, Dr Oliver Escobar, Jackie Weaver and a panel of community councillors and Community Council Liaison Officers (CCLOs).
You can read the response here which highlights the support on offer to Community Councils from the Improvement Service, including the new Good Practice Guidance, social media support and cost of living resources. The letter from the Minister also encouraged Community Councils to get involved in the current Democracy Matters conversation, which was the subject of a recent series of Community Council webinars. This is part of the wider Local Governance review, which will be concluded by the end of this parliamentary term as set out in the Verity House Agreement.
