Applications are open to any beach custodians around Scotland, including local authorities, community groups and other agencies.

Scotland's Beach Awards are an independent accreditation which show the public that the beach and its environs are managed excellently. The awards celebrate efforts to improve and maintain local beaches and they recognise excellence across three criteria: Access, Facilities, and Safety, Local Environmental Quality, and Communities and Heritage.

Scotland's Beach Awards are presented annually, typically in late May, to coincide with summer holidays of schools in Scotland. Applications for 2025’s awards close on 28 March.
